I am curious what the maximum engine rpm is supposed to be and if the ecm will cut fuel to keep the engine from over speeding. I was busting snow drifts a couple of weeks ago and I set a code for engine overspeed and my scan tool says it is a permanent code. I wasn't really paying attention to the RPM's while I was busting drifts, because I assumed the ecm would defuel if the rpms got too high. To the best of my knowledge I was around 4000 to 4200 rpms.

Digger, this is what I thought also, but when playing around with my scan tool I found two hard codes that I couldn't clear that were called permanent codes for over speed conditions. Doesn't show up on the murphy gauge, and I never felt the engine defuel while I was busting drifts.

I couldn't help myself a couple of weeks ago and ordered a tuning box from TDI tuning out of england. It really woke up this little engine! I wanted to go with a custom tune, but I didn't feel like dumping 1k+ into a tune that might kill my ax15 transmission. This tune maxes out at 215 hp but only 369 torque which is more friendly than the 400+ torque on the custom tunes.
